The ultimate objective in record promotion is to achieve a high level of airplay and TV coverage - preferably on major stations/networks which, in the UK still have massive audiences, literally millions!!

Radio: The UK boasts a huge number of successful FM & digital radio stations covering all genres of music. This breaks down between the BBC (eg Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music) and the Commercial Radio (eg Global Group inc Capital FM, Heart, & XFM; Bauer Group inc Magic, Kiss).

TV: The major channels, BBC, ITV & Channel 4 have various entertainment programmes which feature music guests for interviews and live performances.

Alternatively, if a promo video clip is available there are a number of (mainly) digital channels to be approached including MTV (inc VH1), Bauer Group and the Sky Music Channels.

The plugger's key is having strong contacts, particularly with the producers and researchers at the above mentioned stations and having the experience to direct their efforts given the genre of the artist they are working.

Publicity
